Yoga and Somatic Practices

We deliver trauma informed 1:1, small group and community practices to connect mind and body. Practices are rooted in yoga and also integrate scientifically supported somatic, embodiment, sensory, fascia release and deep rest techniques. They support nervous system regulation, healing, stress management, emotional processing and sleep quality.

Trauma, anxiety, stress, burnout, repressed emotions and depression affect the body at cellular level. Associated symptoms can reflect an imbalance in the nervous system. The latest science shows us that healing therefore requires interventions that incorporate the body and restore the nervous system back to a state of stability.

Practices intentionally utilise the body as a route to healing within a safe, compassionate and nurturing environment. They embed gentle knowledge sharing and education on techniques utilised, along with the physical, embodied experience. This will enable deeper understanding of the practices and why/how/when they are of use outside of the class. An emphasis is placed on ways to integrate learning and practices into daily life. This empowers individuals with the knowledge and confidence they need to use practices to enhance their own well-being enabling long term positive change and supporting multiple aspects of physical health, mental health and wellbeing.

To support somatic practices and nervous system regulation, collaborative sessions can be arranged with a BABCP and BACP psychotherapist. With this interprofessional collaboration, mental and physical health can be addressed from both a body based and cognitive based approach. The latest research demonstrates the success of this innovative approach and the long term, positive change it ilicits. This is due to the fusion of body based (bottom up) and cognitive (top down) approaches to address both the mind and body.
