Both group and 1:1 pathways will consist of a blend of several scientifically supported intervention techniques. This is because there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to growth and healing. Although humans have more in common than not, we are unique beings and need to be considered as such within the therapeutic space. This supports better client outcomes and leads to long term change. Science shows us that we are happier and more content when we are actively “doing”. Activity engagement is the reasons for some of the most awe inspiring and fulfilling moments of life. When we disengage in things that are important to us, or are out of balance in how we spend our time, our overall wellbeing can be negatively impacted. Activity can heal us on multiple levels, especially when engaged in a therapeutic sense. At Evolve OT interests, balance of activities, current activity engagement are considered, utilised and addressed.
For many, engagement or reengagement in activities can be overwhelming. This is why it is a key part of our practice to grade activities and provide the “just right” amount of support and scaffolding if and when required. This support can lessen as the client feels is appropriate. Support offered for activity engagement can range from teaching to supported engagement. A key part of our ethos is to empower and educate clients so they become masters in their own wellbeing.

Our daily routine lays the foundation for our health and wellbeing. What we do, and how we do it is important- it can enhance or damage wellbeing . Many of us live on autopilot and keep engaging in a routine that does not work well for us. Others may have a diagnosis, an event or a difficulty that has upset day to day life. At Evolve OT, we are masters in routine. We know from experience and from the science that small changes, made consistently, can lead to massive results in physical, mental and emotional health.
Lifestyle medicine strategies will take a close look at routines, habit and motivations. Changes will be sustainable, accessible and agreed upon in partnership with the client. We are never looking for “perfection” (we know that’s not real), but small, consistent moves in the right direction. This could include things like sleep strategies, organisation structure, self-care and accessible ways to integrate wellbeing practices into busy, daily life.
